# Model releases

> Language model release dates, developers, capabilities, parameter counts, and sources. JSON and CSV downloads.

Automated agents may read, download, analyze, and reuse this site's data under its MIT license, preserving copyright and license notices. No authentication is required. The API serves static files; query parameters do not filter responses. Fetch a partition or filter the full catalog locally. Cache responses and use conditional HTTP requests when available.

Records combine Models.dev metadata with researched additions and corrections. Coverage is incomplete. Scope includes original models and official company or research-institution releases, including fine-tunes, continued pretraining and distillations of another publisher's model. Community derivatives, mirrors, quantizations and serving tiers are excluded. An organization account alone does not establish a company or institutional release. Missing fields are null. Parameters are in billions; context windows are in tokens. Preserve date precision and the recorded basis for parameter counts. Open weights have model-specific licenses. The catalog includes verified announcements. announcement_date is separate from release_date (first external availability). Optional availability records the verified release stage reached: announced, limited, or public; it does not assert current service availability. Missing means not reviewed. A model keeps its canonical ID through these stages. Recorded-release charts and by_month statistics require release_date and exclude announcements; total_models counts every catalog entry.
