About Data Center Atlas
Find data centres, follow their progress, and download the data.
What this is
Data Center Atlas brings together data centres from company disclosures, government records, regulatory filings and reported project histories, from announced projects to operating facilities. Each project includes a location with its precision recorded, a dated status and links to its sources.
Explore the map, browse sites or countries, or download the data. Developers can use the JSON API. The atlas is maintained by Kian Kyars.
Coverage
- Sites
- 838 sites in 63 countries
- Projects and sources
- 906 projects and 4753 source records
- Data updated
- 2026-10-27
- Status evidence dates
- 2024-08-06 to 2026-10-27
Each status describes what a source reported on a particular date. Sites remain listed as they are completed, open or change status. Coverage grows as projects are added and existing records are updated. The methodology explains selection and location precision.

Licence
- Atlas-authored data and documentation: CC BY 4.0. Attribute it as "Data Center Atlas (Kian Kyars), https://kiankyars.github.io/datacenter-atlas/" and include the date of the data you used.
- Third-party facts, titles, URLs and geometries keep their sources' terms, recorded on each evidence row and listed on the attribution page. Many sources are all-rights-reserved: the atlas cites them and records compact facts, and does not redistribute their documents, imagery or media.
- OpenStreetMap-derived geometries: © OpenStreetMap contributors, ODbL 1.0. Each site's geometry licences are listed in the
geometry_licensesfield of its API record. - Code: MIT. The maps use Leaflet 1.9.4, under the BSD 2-Clause licence; the site ships that text as
assets/vendor/leaflet/LICENSE.
The full terms are in DATA_LICENSE.md.
Corrections and suggestions
Found an error, a newer status report or a missing site? Use the correction form or the new-site form on GitHub. Every site page also has a "Report a correction" link that fills in the site ID. Please link public, primary sources, with dates.
Accepted additions and corrections appear in the next data update. Earlier files remain available in the archive. Submissions are checked against the selection rules.
Privacy
This site sets no cookies and uses no analytics, advertising or tracking, and it loads no scripts or fonts from other sites. When a map is shown, your browser requests basemap tiles directly from the OpenStreetMap Foundation's tile servers or from EOX (and from CARTO, where its maps are offered), which receive your IP address and the map area requested. The map remembers settings such as your basemap choice in your browser's local storage; they are not sent anywhere. The site is hosted on GitHub Pages, which logs visitors' IP addresses for security purposes (GitHub's data-collection note). The OpenStreetMap, Google Maps, Bing Maps and Copernicus Browser links and the "Archived copy" links to the Internet Archive on site pages are only followed if you click them.
Legal notices
- Source-specific notices, including the City of Chicago's required disclaimer, are on the attribution page.
- Basemaps, which are not part of the dataset and not covered by its CC BY 4.0 licence:

Source code and credits
The site, API and downloads are generated from the public repository kiankyars/datacenter-atlas by a standard-library Python builder, and the frontend has no build step. The data rests on public disclosures and open data from hundreds of publishers, listed on the attribution page, and on the work of OpenStreetMap contributors. Data updates are announced in the updates feed, and newly added sites in the sites feed.
