Meta Talavera de la Reina data center campus

Summary

Planned Meta data center campus in the Torrehierro industrial area of Talavera de la Reina, Toledo, which would be Meta's first large owned data center in Spain. Meta's 2022 announcement put the investment at about EUR 1 billion; environmental documents later estimated EUR 750 million. Meta bought about 190 hectares from the state land agency Sepes in December 2024. After repeated delays, the regional government approved it as a project of singular interest in October 2025 and authorised the land reparcelling in summer 2026, letting Meta seek building permits. A switch to dry-air cooling cut planned water use. Construction had not been reported as started.

No MW capacity for the campus was found in the sources opened. Investment figures differ: about EUR 1 billion in Meta's 2022 announcement versus EUR 750 million in the environmental documentation. Water figures also differ: the regional government cites about 0.2 cubic hectometres a year, while the environmental approval gives about 504,500 cubic metres a year for the whole site, mostly landscaping, and about 40,600 cubic metres for the data center itself after the move to dry-air cooling.
