The municipality republishes NYAB's release of 9 October 2026: NYAB Finland Oy has signed a contract for the preparatory works of the first phase of the data-centre campus planned in Utajärvi, developed by Data Tank Nordic Oy, the project company of AMP Tank AG; the works start immediately; the contract covers site-preparation and infrastructure works required for the campus, with options to extend the preparatory works, and its value is not disclosed. The preparatory works form the first phase of the planned campus, which if implemented in full would comprise four data-centre buildings with a combined capacity of 200 MW and supporting infrastructure; NYAB's role in later phases is under negotiation. The permit and supervision board's minutes of 14 April 2026, § 16 (case 54/10.03.00/2026), approve building permit 26-0014-RL for applicant Data Tank Nordic Oy on building site 889-407-0004-0131 (property Tietomaa, 263,910 m2; detailed plan of 2024; the project complies with the plan) at Prosessitie 2, 91600 Utajärvi: a substation, battery storage, backup generators, a control building and four data-centre buildings, RAK 1 22,476 m2 / 189,340 m3, RAK 2 to RAK 4 21,300 m2 / 184,250 m3 each and RAK 5 368 m2 / 1,710 m3, 86,744 m2 and 743,800 m3 in all. The battery storage is 200/400 MW and the backup generators' fuel power is under 50 MW. Conditions include a site plan and a construction-site water-management plan before preparatory works, and work must start within three years of the permit becoming final.
