EdgeConneX, a data center developer backed by EQT Infrastructure, began building a 200 MW AI-ready hyperscale campus in March 2026 on a site of about 130,000 square metres at the Kagoya Tatara Campus in Kyotanabe City, roughly 30 km from central Osaka. The company calls it its first data center campus in Japan. It is being developed in partnership with Kagoya Asset Management; the groundbreaking was for a first building named ITM01, and the first phase is targeted to be ready for service in the first quarter of 2028. EdgeConneX said it plans about 350 MW in total across Greater Osaka, including a second project announced in August 2025.

Kagoya Asset Management is described as EdgeConneX's partner on the project without a stated ownership or development role, and Kyotanabe's mayor is quoted congratulating the parties on the groundbreaking, so neither is listed as a party.
