Under construction
Korea, Republic of · 1 project · Last reported
Summary
South Korea's government-backed National AI Computing Center is being built in the Solaseado data center park in Haenam County, South Jeolla. A consortium led by Samsung SDS was the only bidder in the 2025 tender and was confirmed as operator in 2026; a public-private joint venture, Korea AI Computing Center (KOACC), formed in June 2026 to build and run it. The project is budgeted at more than 2 trillion won through 2030 and targets at least 15,000 advanced GPUs by 2028 and about 50,000 by 2030. Ground was broken on 3 August 2026, with completion targeted for 2028.

Qualifies on investment: the budget of more than 2 trillion won exceeded USD 1 billion at the time. Reported totals vary between 2.0 and 2.5 trillion won across outlets. The site name is romanized several ways (Solaseado, SoLaSeaDo, Solasido). Wikipedia is cited only for the county coordinate. This is separate from the stalled OpenAI and SK data center plan, for which Haenam was one reported candidate site.
