Polarise AI Factory Amberg (former Wertachtal shortwave transmitter site)
Announced
Germany · 1 project · Last reported
Summary
Polarise's release dated Düsseldorf, 9 September 2026 states that its Amberg (Unterallgäu) AI factory in the greater Augsburg area is designed for an initial 65 MW, scalable to 120 MW. It is due to go live in mid-2027 and will be powered largely by on-site solar, wind and battery storage on the former Wertachtal transmitter site. This supports an announced project. No completed acquisition, permit, physical work or operation is established. Mid-2027 is a target, and the release does not say whether 65 MW is IT load. evidence

Polarise Amberg (Unterallgäu) AI Factory — conversion of the former Wertachtal transmitter building
Announced last observed as of · Project announcement
Polarise's release (Paderborn/Amberg, March 10, 2026) announces an AI data centre in the Amberg municipality (Unterallgäu) with an initial 30 MW, scalable to 120 MW, launch planned for mid-2027. Polarise will acquire the former Wertachtal shortwave transmission building and the adjacent land from the current owners and convert the site into an AI-ready data centre using its AI Pods; WV Energie AG operates about 70 MWp of solar parks on a large part of the site. evidence

The municipal-area feature at the hub is DEBYBDLMjK0000qH with Gemeindekennzeichen 09 7 78 111, the municipality of Amberg in Landkreis Unterallgäu (AX_Gemeinde 09778111 'Amberg'; the separate city of Amberg in the Upper Palatinate is 09361000). The hub centroid lies inside it, 561 m from its boundary. evidence

Within the named hub area the largest building is DEBY_LOD2_2003010 (function 31001_2000, building for trade or industry; 4,876 m2 footprint; measured height 14.3 m), whose footprint centroid lies 35 m from the hub centroid. The model does not name the building. evidence

- Centroid of the ATKIS Basis-DLM area 'Ehemalige Kurzwellensendeanlage Wertachtal' (DEBYBDLMbM0001yz), a 3.2 ha ring about 204 m across at the hub of the former antenna field, in the municipality of Amberg, Landkreis Unterallgäu. It marks the former transmitter facility whose transmission building Polarise plans to convert. The largest building in it (LoD2 DEBY_LOD2_2003010, 4,876 m2 footprint, 14.3 m high) lies 35 m away. The point does not locate the adjacent land Polarise plans to acquire, the surrounding solar parks or a construction extent.
- Horizontal uncertainty
Not reported
The Basis-DLM extract states no positional accuracy. The centroid represents a 3.2 ha named area (103 m to its farthest vertex), and the land Polarise will use is not delineated.

A locator places the site on the map. It is not a building footprint, a construction extent or a surveyed boundary unless the use scope is an official boundary, and even then it is a parcel or permit boundary.
