Summary
Proposed first Italian campus of Blackstone-owned QTS Data Centers on the former IBM industrial site at Velasca in Vimercate (Monza and Brianza). QTS's page calls it a proposed development of up to EUR 2.3 billion. At a June 2026 open day QTS presented three buildings and an on-site substation linked to a planned Terna station; local press reported 156 MW (two 60 MW buildings and one of 36 MW), while other reports give about 220 MW or 300 MW. In July 2026 QTS awaited the national environmental assessment before a building permit, aiming to prepare the site by end-2026 and open the first building in the second half of 2028.

Capacity figures conflict: 156 MW (Prima Monza, Giornale di Vimercate), about 220 MW (Cloudnews, citing Il Cittadino) and 300 MW (Il Giorno); site size is 19 hectares in local press but 277,800 square metres on QTS's undated page, which calls the development proposed (status_as_of is the access date). Giornale di Vimercate was read as a PDF clipping hosted by CIAI, a charity QTS sponsors; Prima Monza's own site carries the same text. A sponsored MBNews piece, also hosted by CIAI, said old sheds were being demolished; this is unconfirmed and not recorded. Opponents asked for heat recovery, generator-test limits and buried power lines. No ministry environmental decision was found.
