Summary
Equinix BG2 Bogotá — Phase 1 (first 550 cabinets), existing data-centre operations
Equinix's press release of 20 August 2026 describes BG2 as its existing IBX data centre in Bogotá: BG2 was announced in 2022 with US$45 million, 'La primera fase de la instalación incorporó 550 gabinetes', and the new US$28 million second phase of 550 cabinets will double 'la capacidad disponible en el sitio'; customers reach international routes through Equinix's Bogotá facilities. This records the first phase as operating on 20 August 2026, the release date, as a publication-normalised observation; it is not an opening, inspection or commissioning date, which the release does not give. The 550 cabinets are the operator's first-phase capacity; occupancy, IT load in MW and the second phase's progress are not established. evidence

Equinix BG2 Bogotá — Phase 2 capacity expansion
On August 20, 2026, Equinix announced a US$28 million second phase for its IBX BG2 data centre in Bogotá. The phase adds 550 cabinets and doubles the site's capacity. The release states that BG2 was announced in 2022 with a US$45 million investment and that its first phase provided 550 cabinets. It gives no construction start, permit, completion or opening date for the second phase, so the expansion is recorded as announced only. evidence

A locator places the site on the map. It is not a building footprint, a construction extent or a surveyed boundary unless the use scope is an official boundary, and even then it is a parcel or permit boundary.
