AWS Madison County data center project (Canton and Ridgeland campuses)
This record covers several sites. It is not counted as an additional site or project.
Single Amazon Web Services project in Madison County, north of Jackson, announced in January 2024 as one $10 billion investment covering two campuses: one on the Madison County Mega Site near Canton and one in Ridgeland near West County Line Road. It broke ground in May 2024 and Amazon said its first section was running just over 14 months later. In April 2026 Amazon added $11 billion to expand its Madison County operations. By August 2026 five buildings were finished at Canton, while the Ridgeland campus had none complete. Entergy Mississippi supplies power.
This record reports partially operational as of 2026-08-18. Amazon; WLOX; WLBT
Location: Madison County, Mississippi, US. The record covers one project with two campuses announced together: the Canton mega site (off Highway 22 and Nissan Parkway) and the Ridgeland site (Highland Colony Parkway and West County Line Road). Sources treat Canton and Ridgeland as one Madison County project: a single 2024 investment, one groundbreaking, and one fee-in-lieu tax agreement. Status: Amazon said the first section was running by August 2025. In April 2026 an AWS executive said construction at both Canton and Ridgeland was about half done. In August 2026 the county tax dispute covered five completed Canton buildings (about 214,500 sq ft each), and Ridgeland had none finished. AWS said in April 2026 that Canton uses recycled water for cooling and Ridgeland would use water only about 30 days a year.
