Under construction
United States · 1 project · Last reported
Summary
Google's first Arkansas data center campus, under construction at the south end of Bollinger Road in West Memphis, Crittenden County, on a property reported at 1,000 to 1,200 acres. Google announced it in October 2025 as part of a $4 billion Arkansas commitment running through 2027. The developer of record, Groot LLC, filed plans with the US Army Corps of Engineers in late 2024; earlier reporting described a proposed $10 billion campus with five data center buildings and a substation. Construction began in October 2025 on an 18-24 month schedule. Entergy Arkansas is supplying power under a contract with Google, which is paying part of the cost of a new Entergy solar and storage project.

Power supply
| Type | Description | Sources |
|---|---|---|
| Grid | Entergy Arkansas is to supply power under its contract with Google, using solar and existing generation; earlier reports said Entergy was considering a 500/230 kV substation. Google says it will cover the facility's energy costs and reduce its workload during peak demand. | Talk Business & Politics; POWER Magazine |
| Solar | The Google-Entergy contract includes investment in Cypress Solar, a 600 MW solar facility near Pine Bluff in Jefferson County; unlike Google's earlier solar PPAs, the money supports construction directly. | Google; POWER Magazine |
| Battery storage | The Cypress Solar project includes a 350 MW battery energy storage facility to be built by Entergy Arkansas. | POWER Magazine |
Google's $4 billion figure is an Arkansas-wide commitment through 2027 that includes the West Memphis data center along with other cloud and AI infrastructure and local programs, so it is not recorded as a campus investment, although some news reports describe it as the cost of the West Memphis project. Reported campus cost and size figures conflict and are kept as separate statements.

Entergy Arkansas announced 'a second phase of its service to support Google's presence in West Memphis'. The release says 'The project will fulfill Google's plan for data center buildings on the site and accelerate the ramp-up of the original announced project', and that the planned system upgrades, about $600 million of investment plus a power purchase agreement, all covered by Google, include a 1,000 MWh battery storage system at Driver Solar near Osceola and a 400 MWh system near Hot Springs (both expected online in 2028), a 440 MW (ac) solar purchase agreement from the Big Island solar facility under construction in Mississippi County, and 'Expansion of the Galet substation near West Memphis and construction of two new 230 kV transmission lines to serve the expanded data center campus'. Entergy Arkansas's chief executive says Google 'is increasing its investment in West Memphis and building on the significant success of its first phase'. The expansion contract will be submitted to the Arkansas Public Service Commission and, pending approval, has an expected in-service date in 2028. evidence
