Meta New Albany data center campus (Prometheus)
Partially operational
United States · 1 project · Last reported
Summary
Meta's campus in New Albany, Ohio, where ground was first broken in 2017, is being expanded to host Prometheus, an AI cluster that Meta says delivers more than 1 GW of compute across several buildings. Meta announced Prometheus in July 2025, and it was expected to come online in 2026. Meta planned the campus's energy needs with AEP, behind-the-meter gas plants are being built by Will-Power OH for a Meta affiliate, and Meta signed nuclear power deals in January 2026 tied to the cluster. Drone imagery reported in September 2026 indicated the southern part of the cluster was running while the northern part was not yet energized.
Source record as of 2026-09-16 · Details and sources
The City of New Albany's data-center site, in its version modified on 26 October 2026, lists Meta's New Albany campus as one of 'two active data center sites' and says that in July 2026 the City was notified about periodic noise from 'Meta's New Albany data center campus south of SR-161', reported after a temporary sound wall was removed 'as construction neared completion'; Meta's mitigation includes 'changes to current operations' and 'a temporary sound wall along Morse Road while construction continues'. This government statement, republished in the 26 October version, records Meta's New Albany campus as operating while construction continues, so the record's partially_operational status (Meta's own statement of 19 October 2026) is refreshed with this newer observation of the same status on 26 October 2026, the modification day of the captured version. It does not establish which buildings operate, completion of the remaining construction, capacity or the Prometheus cluster's own extent; operational is not claimed. evidence
