Under construction

United States · 1 project · Last reported

Summary

Google data center being built alongside new dedicated generation at the Meitner Energy Center in Gray and Roberts counties in the Texas Panhandle; Google's location list shows a Pampa site in development. Google and Intersect, the energy developer Google closed on buying in March 2026, announced construction on 4 June 2026. The complex pairs the data center with more than 1 GW of wind, solar and battery storage, and on-site gas firming covers a minority of demand. The data center is designed for air cooling. Google has not disclosed the compute load, cost or opening date. An 800-acre Caprock Workforce Hub in Wheeler County is planned to house up to 3,500 workers.

Google's broader $40 billion Texas investment through 2027 is cited in the Intersect release but is statewide and is not recorded as a campus investment. The more-than-1 GW figure is co-located generation capacity, not the data center's load.
