Summary
NEXTDC plans a hyperscale data center campus of about 550 MW on roughly 258,000 square meters of land it agreed to buy in Eastern Creek, western Sydney, in October 2024, subject to development approval. In December 2025 NEXTDC signed a memorandum of understanding with OpenAI to collaborate on planning, developing and operating the S7 campus and a large GPU supercluster as part of OpenAI's program for countries, with a first phase expected in the second half of 2027 if approvals are secured. NEXTDC's site still lists S7 as in planning.

NEXTDC’s S7 data centre at 1 Kangaroo Avenue, Eastern Creek, remains a proposal in NSW State significant development planning (SSD-113934740). Assessment requirements were issued to NEXTDC Limited on 6 May 2026 and modified on 31 August 2026. They describe three two-storey buildings with an operational capacity of 612 MW.
