Summary

Planned Microsoft datacenter campus in the city of Zaragoza beside the Puerto Venecia shopping area, one of three campuses in the PIGA Región MSFT regional plan. The November 2025 plan assigns it 57 hectares and about EUR 1.44 billion, with 50 MW secured for a first phase and up to 300 MW sought later via the Torrero-Valdeconsejo substation. The regional government declared it of general interest in September 2025 and began expropriating about 16.5 hectares of private land. Landowners and the ZeC party contested the project in 2026. Microsoft says only land clearing is authorized until the plan receives final approval.

The Boletín Oficial de Aragón of 27 October 2026 publishes the Servicio Provincial de Zaragoza notice (signed 13 October) opening public information on Microsoft 7724 Spain, SL's application for a 132 kV underground line from the Puerto Venecia switching station to the SET Campus Microsoft 132/33 kV substation, whose purpose is to supply Microsoft's new data centre to be located in Zaragoza. A companion notice of 21 October 2026 covers the Puerto Venecia switching station itself on parcels 55 and 75 of polygon 88 (Plana de Torrero). This dated government record keeps the campus announced; it establishes no authorisation of the data centre, no building permit and no physical work. evidence

Landowners facing expropriation say work has begun, which Microsoft disputes, saying only land clearing is permitted before the plan is finally approved. 2026 coverage also mentions a second large data centre planned on rural land at Cartuja Baja in Zaragoza without naming its developer; it is not part of this record. No government primary source was opened; Boletín Oficial de Aragón entries should be added when available.
