Homer City Energy Campus
Under construction
United States · 1 project · Last reported
Summary
Redevelopment of the retired Homer City coal-fired generating station in Indiana County, Pennsylvania, into a gas-fired power and data center campus of more than 3,200 acres. Seven GE Vernova 7HA.02 turbines are planned to deliver up to 4.4 GW for multiple large data center customers, with some power also supplied to the local grid. The developer projects more than 10 billion US dollars for power infrastructure and site readiness, with data centers adding more. Pennsylvania regulators issued an air permit in November 2025; by September 2026 more than 1,800 workers were on site, with power production targeted for 2027. No data center tenant has been named.
Source record as of 2026-09-04 · Details and sources
Homer City Generation, L.P.'s release of 20 October 2026 says that Kiewit, the Homer City Energy Campus's EPC partner, has over the past year 'led demolition and construction on the 3,200-acre site while building a workforce of more than 2,000 skilled tradespeople and contractors'. It adds that Kiewit began vertical construction in April 2026, completed demolition and excavation in June 2026, and recently installed the first two heat recovery steam generators and set the first gas turbine on its foundation. This company disclosure from the campus developer records construction in progress on the campus on 20 October 2026, so the record's under_construction observation of 4 September 2026 (same publisher and campus scope) is refreshed. The work described is site and power-generation construction. No data-centre building, completion, commissioning or operation is inferred, and the workforce, acreage and equipment counts are not capacity measures. evidence
